009. So Professional. [

Professors are so mean. Even though they know we're breaking out for the Christmas holidays in only five more days, I've still managed to acquire an Ancient Runes essay, a Charms essay and a really pointless Divination project all due on FRIDAY THE EIGHTEENTH. Can't I just enjoy being excited about Christmas for the rest of the term? Or do our teachers really have no lives that they'd rather be marking than downing more eggnog?

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL! After some exhaustive owling with my parents it has been decided that I will be spending my holiday in lovely Las Vegas, Nevada, US. Ding dong merrily on high!

Granted, this is not a vacation so much as it is a trip for business research. Hell, I'll promise anything for the FREEDOM

Who: participants
When: Tuesday during mid-morning break and lunch
Where: Hogwarts front lawn
What: MASSIVE INTER-HOUSE SNOWBALL WAR
Rating: Eh, lets keep it PG-13 and under

"Listen up!" shouted the mildly covered Hufflepuff; mildly covered for wintertime sports as it were. When it came to snowball fights, Grady knew the perfect amount of fabric was key to having the best mobility. Too much weighed you down while too little meant the cold would freeze you to the bone and hinder you just as bad. With a thick Muggle coat instead of a cloak, a pair of old gloves, a knitted pull-over cap and his house scarf for protection, Grady took a quick survey of the large crowd before jumping up on a large mound of snow some Third Years were using to build a snowman and touched the tip of his wand to his throat. He had easily mastered the voice-enhancing charm after commentating so many Quidditch matches for the school. "OIY, YOU LOT!" his voice rang out, causing the Third Years to shrink and grasp their ears. "Sorry."

"Welcome brave warriors, to the first ever -- that I've heard of -- Snowball War! As you can see, four forts are erected with the snow tinted the colour of your team." He paused to point to each of the four structures, each one designed differently based on the personality of the teammates who constructed them. There was a good space between the four bases, leaving plenty of room to run between. "You'll note none of them are yellow, Potter. There's a box of ribbons at each one for you to put on your arm, or your head, or... just make sure it's visible, alright? There will be NO running off into the forest, the Pitch, or tormenting of the mermaids and squid if you head down to the beach. Got that? I'm a Prefect, there still has to be rules. Oh, and if you run inside the castle you forfeit. Three times hit and you're 'frozen.' Last team standing wins!!"

With that, he sent the four teams off, giving them a few minutes to get situated before sounding the alarm to "FIGHT!!!!"

LISTEN UP TROOPS!!

This is your friendly neighborhood Snow War Commander writing! I want to see the men (women, and/or children) who are in charge of building their team's snow fort defenses on the front lawns as soon as final break before dinner begins! Captains are invited and encouraged to join as well. I'll be delegating sections for home bases at that time. You will have one hour to build your forts so work quickly and use all the magic you want. It will be prohibited tomorrow during the battle.

I HOPE YOU ALL PRACTICED BECAUSE TEAM FROSTBITE IS GOING TO BURY YOU ALL TOMORROW!!!

Alice Radford: This means you! Nothing personal.
